Job description
Do you have 5 years of AS400 IBM I System experience? We are looking for an AS400 expert who has experience in a multiple LPAR and network environment. You will be responsible for the management of 11 active (and 7 passive) LPAR’s running on two Power Systems server.
The IT environment relies on numerous connections and applications running on several systems at once. It is crucial that connectivity and processing power be protected. Currently high availability is implemented using a mix of hardware and software solutions. These include Power HA, GeoMirror, Geographic Mirroring, Clustering, Switchable IASP.
There are numerous connections with partners and applications using WebSphere MQ, web services, remote databases (DDM/DRDA), CFT, FTP.
The applications are mainly developed on IBM i using the languages RPG/ILE, CLP, JAVA. The central back-end application is developed using ADELIA Studio (4GL). Front-end applications are Java/JEE running under IBM WebSphere Application Server.
The role includes the following:
Monitor system resources (CPU, Memory, disk, network…)
Monitor applications
Configure and tune the system, the database and communication software
Configure IBM i security
Planning system maintenance new release and PTF of the operating system and LPP’s.
Report on usage and recommend resources and solutions for future needs
Develop, maintain and improve monitoring tools
Incident and problem analysis
Bring advice, support and expertise to the infrastructure and development team.
DRP planning and automation.
Backup planning and recovery
Spooled files and log cleanup
